Educational Qualification and Experience
Eligibility varies across engineering, technical, nursing, safety and other positions. Key requirements are summarised below.
Assistant Superintendent (Hindi Translator): Degree in Hindi with English and prescribed translation diploma, or Degree with PG qualification in Hindi/Hindi Translation, plus 2 years relevant translation experience.
Junior Supervisor (Safety-Electrical): 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering and 1-year full-time Diploma in Industrial Safety, plus 2 years relevant supervisory experience.
Junior Supervisor (Substation): 3-year Diploma in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics Engineering with valid 33KV Supervisor Licence/Competency Certificate, plus 2 years relevant experience.
Technical Assistant (Mechanical / Electrical/Electronics / Shipbuilding / Instrumentation / Civil, and Mumbai Office): 3-year Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline (or Shipbuilding Engineering/Fabrication Technology & Erection Engineering for Shipbuilding) and 2 years experience in the line.
Nurse (Male): B.Sc. Nursing or minimum 2-year full-time Diploma in Nursing & Midwifery, plus 2 years experience.
Shipwright Fitter: SSC with Training Certificate from Deck/Engine Department and 2 years experience in shipbuilding.
Welder: ITI in Welder trade and 2 years experience in the shipbuilding industry.
Instrument Mechanic and Diesel Mechanic: ITI in the relevant trade and 2 years relevant experience.
Khalasi: SSC with prescribed ITI or Deck/Engine Certificate and 2 years shipbuilding experience, or SSC with 4 years experience in specified shipyard activities.
Safety Steward: SSC with 1-year Diploma in Industrial Safety/Fire & Safety/Safety Management, plus 2 years experience.
EOT Crane Operator: SSC with ITI in Electrical/Electronics and 2 years relevant crane operation and maintenance experience with prescribed technical knowledge.
3G Welder: SSC with authorized 3G Welding Certification and 2 years experience in the shipbuilding industry.
Painter: SSC with 2 years experience in the shipbuilding industry.
Steward cum Cook: SSC with 10 years experience in cooking and catering management, meeting the specified service and job requirements.
For Technical Assistant positions, a Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline is compulsory. Candidates possessing only B.E. or B.Tech qualifications without the required Diploma will not be considered eligible.
Age Limit
The upper age limit for most positions is 33 years for UR/EWS candidates. The Assistant Superintendent (Hindi Translator) vacancy is reserved for OBC-NCL candidates with a notified upper age limit of 36 years, while the maximum age for Steward cum Cook is 41 years for UR/EWS candidates. Age is calculated as on 30 September 2026.
- OBC-NCL candidates: 3 years age relaxation
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years age relaxation
- Ex-Servicemen, Ex-Agniveers, PwBD and eligible internal candidates: relaxation as per applicable rules

Salary
Selected candidates will receive consolidated monthly remuneration according to the post and year of service. The first-year salary ranges from Rs. 27,200 to Rs. 41,400 per month, with different consolidated pay amounts prescribed for the second and third years.

Goa Shipyard Limited Recruitment 2026: Selection Process and Important Dates
Selection Process
The selection process consists of a Written Test, Document Verification and Skill/Trade Test. The written examination may be conducted through Computer Based Test (CBT) or Pen and Paper Based Test (PBT).
The written examination will normally contain 25% General Aptitude questions and 75% questions related to the relevant subject or trade. The selection weightage differs according to the post category:
- Sr. No. 1 to 3: Written Test 50%, Skill Test 50%
- Sr. No. 4 to 10: Written Test 40%, Skill Test 60%
- Sr. No. 11 to 20: Written Test 30%, Skill Test 70%
Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General/EWS candidates and 35% for SC/ST/PwBD/OBC-NCL candidates (where posts are reserved for the respective category). Eligible internal fixed-term employees and advance trainees may receive skill-test weightage under GSL rules.
