The North Western Railway (NWR), Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Jaipur, has released Notice No. 04/2026 (NWR/AA) dated 30 September 2026, inviting online applications for Act Apprentice training under the Apprentices Act, 1961. A total of 2,008 training slots are available across 8 units and multiple ITI trades under the Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur and Jodhpur divisions. Eligible candidates aged 15 to 24 years who have passed Class 10 with a minimum 50 percent aggregate marks and hold a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant trade from NCVT or SCVT can apply online at www.rrcjaipur.in from 7 October 2026 to 6 November 2026 (23:59 hrs).

NWR Act Apprentice Vacancy Details and Important Dates
The 2,008 training slots are distributed across 8 units, spanning trades such as Electrician (Coaching/Power/TRD), Fitter, Welder, Carpenter, Painter, Mason, Pipe Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, Turner/Machinist, Electronics Mechanic, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, Machine Tool Maintenance, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. The number of slots is provisional and may increase or decrease based on administrative needs.

Each unit's slots are further broken down by trade and by category (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS), with separate reserved slots for PwBD and Ex-servicemen. Candidates must check the official notification for the exact trade-wise and category-wise slot count for their chosen unit and trade before applying, since a candidate may only select a unit where a training slot exists for their specific ITI trade. Reserved PwBD and Ex-servicemen seats are already included within the total slots shown for each trade.

NWR Act Apprentice Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must possess the required educational qualification and fall within the prescribed age limit. All eligibility conditions must be met as on the date of submission of the application.
Educational Qualification
- Passed Class 10 examination or its equivalent under the 10+2 system with a minimum of 50 percent marks in aggregate (no rounding off) from a recognised Board.
- Must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the notified trade issued by NCVT or SCVT.
- The requisite educational and technical qualification must be from a recognised Board, Government University or Institute as on the date of application submission.
- Candidates awaiting results of their final exams should not apply.

Age relaxation is available as follows: SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation in the upper age limit, OBC candidates get 3 years, and Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) get 10 years. Ex-servicemen are relaxable by up to an additional 10 years to the extent of service rendered in the Defence Forces plus 3 years, provided a minimum of 6 months' continuous service was completed. This relaxation does not apply to ex-servicemen who have already joined government service on the civil side after availing ex-servicemen status for that engagement.
Reservation and Certificate Requirements
- SC/ST candidates must produce a caste certificate in the Central Government format at Document Verification.
- OBC candidates must produce a caste certificate and a Non-Creamy Layer Certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026, in the Central Government format, along with an OBC declaration.
- EWS candidates must produce an EWS certificate in the prescribed format.
- Ex-servicemen and Armed Forces Personnel (or their children) must produce a discharge certificate, or an Armed Forces serving certificate in the case of children of serving personnel, at Document Verification.
NWR Act Apprentice Stipend, Application Fee and Selection Process
Training period and stipend will be as per the extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board from time to time. No hostel accommodation will be provided, and selected candidates must make their own arrangements during training. Before commencing training, the selected candidate (or their guardian, if a minor) must enter into a Contract of Apprenticeship with the employer.

Fee payment is made online through the payment gateway integrated with the online application using debit card, credit card or Internet Banking. No change or edit is allowed after fee payment. Transaction charges for online payment are borne by the candidate. On successful payment, an e-receipt is generated, which should be printed and retained.
Selection Process
Selection is based on a merit list prepared for all candidates who apply against the notification. The merit is calculated as the simple average of the percentage of marks in Matriculation (minimum 50 percent aggregate) and the percentage of marks in ITI in the trade in which apprenticeship is sought.
- For Matriculation percentage, marks obtained in all subjects are considered, not the marks of any single subject or group of subjects.
- For ITI percentage, marks mentioned in the provisional or final certificate are considered.
- In case two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate is preferred. If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed the Matriculation exam earlier is considered first.
- The final merit list is prepared division or unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise, equal to the number of slots, in descending order of the percentage of marks obtained.
- Candidates finally enlisted are subject to verification of original testimonials and production of a medical certificate.
Candidates should note that no centralised merit list is formed. Each unit's merit list is prepared separately based on candidates who applied for that specific unit.
Medical Fitness
Selected candidates must produce a medical certificate in the prescribed format at Document Verification, signed by a Government-authorised Gazetted Doctor not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central or State Hospital. Standards of fitness for Persons with Disability are also specified in the notification, covering Locomotor Disability or Cerebral Palsy (not less than 40 percent relevant disability), Hearing Impairment (loss of 60 decibels or more in the better ear, including Deaf, Dumb, or Deaf and Dumb candidates), and other benchmark disability categories.
How to Apply for NWR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026
Candidates must apply online only by visiting www.rrcjaipur.in between 7 October 2026 and 6 November 2026 (23:59 hrs). No physical copy of the application needs to be sent to RRC, and any physical copy received will not be given cognisance.
- Fill personal details: Log on to the RRC Jaipur website and carefully fill in personal details and bio-data, including a valid 12-digit Aadhaar Card number. The original Aadhaar card must be produced at Document Verification.
- Select one unit only: Candidates must choose only one Division or Unit from the 8 listed. Carefully check that a training slot exists for your specific ITI trade in that unit before selecting it, since changes are not allowed after final submission.
- Upload photograph: A recent colour photograph (3.5 cm × 3.5 cm, not older than 3 months, JPG/JPEG format, 100 DPI, file size 20 KB to 70 KB) with a clear front view, without cap or sunglasses.
- Upload signature: A scanned signature (3.5 cm × 2.5 cm, JPG/JPEG format, 100 DPI, file size 20 KB to 30 KB).
- Pay the application fee: Pay the applicable fee through the integrated payment gateway after verifying that all application details are correct, since no changes are allowed after payment.
- Download and retain printout: After successful submission, download and keep a printout of the application. This will be required at the time of Document Verification, if shortlisted.
Candidates must ensure their name, father's name and date of birth exactly match their Matriculation or equivalent certificate. Any deviation found during Document Verification will lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment. Candidates should also provide an active mobile number and valid email ID, since all important communication will be sent via SMS or email.
NWR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Key Instructions
Candidates should keep the following important instructions in mind while applying for NWR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026.
- Candidates may apply for only one unit. Submitting more than one application with different particulars (name, father's name, community, photo, qualification, email or mobile number) will result in summary rejection of all such applications.
- The decision of the Railway administration on all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications and mode of selection is final.
- Imparting training on the Railway does not confer any right to absorption or employment on the Railway after successful completion of training. Per the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, it is not obligatory for the employer to offer employment, nor for the apprentice to accept it, upon completion of training.
- No correspondence regarding engagement will be entertained.
- Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidature.
- Candidates should ensure they fulfil all eligibility criteria before applying. If erroneously engaged, such candidates will be summarily dismissed without notice at any stage.
- For help with online submission or printing of the application, candidates can call the helpline number published on the website from 7 October 2026, available 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (except Sundays and holidays) until the last date of application.
