Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and not older than 30 years as on 1st July 2025. Age relaxation is available for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), Ex-Servicemen, railway staff, and other eligible categories as per government norms.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Matriculation or equivalent along with ITI certification in the relevant trade. Alternatively, candidates with a Diploma or Degree in Engineering can also apply, provided they meet the required trade criteria.
Important Dates
The official notification was released in Employment News on 29th March 2025.
Online application submission begins on 12th April 2025.
The last date to apply online is 11th May 2025 till 11:59 PM.
Candidates can modify their submitted applications between 14th May and 23rd May 2025.
The exam schedule will be announced later on the respective RRB websites.
Salary / Pay Scale / Stipend
The Assistant Loco Pilot post falls under Level-2 of the 7th CPC pay matrix. The initial basic pay is ₹19,900 per month, along with other allowances like DA, HRA, transport allowance, and medical benefits as per government norms.
Application Fee
For General, OBC, and EWS candidates, the application fee is ₹500. However, ₹400 will be refunded after appearing for the first stage CBT.
For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Female, Transgender, Minorities, and Economically Backward Classes (EBC), the fee is ₹250 and will be refunded after the CBT-1 exam.
Only online payment methods such as UPI, net banking, or debit/credit cards are accepted.
Selection Process
- The recruitment process consists of multiple stages.
- First is CBT-1 (screening test), followed by CBT-2 which has two parts – Part A (merit-based) and Part B (qualifying trade test).
- Shortlisted candidates will proceed to the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
- Candidates who qualify in all stages will undergo document verification and a strict medical examination before final appointment.
- The final merit list will be based on marks scored in CBT-2 and CBAT (with 70% and 30% weightage respectively).
